Performers

Dear Performers,

Thank you for joining us for the 7th annual Mancos Renaissance Faire!

We are anticipating attendance of 3,000 to 5,000 visitors this year and are so pleased to have you entertaining them!

Some important things to know:

On Festival days in medieval times, merchants brought their wares, along with their families, in wooden carts to the base of the city’s walls. They set up a temporary shelter where their families slept, ate and played. Guildsmen worked at their crafts whenever business was slack, and everyone sold hard, shouting their wares at passersby. Festival days were a joyous gathering of people, a bustling social event, of color, music, laughter, and endless commotion.  This describes the atmosphere of what we are trying to create at Ye Ole Mancos Village.

1. Parking will be available on the faire grounds only for vehicles arriving before 9:30 am on Saturday August 21 and not leaving the faire grounds before Sunday, August 22, 4:00pm (this parking will be in the southwest corner and west boundaries of the park/faire grounds and be strictly enforced to prevent harm to humans and animals.)  Parking available outside the faire site for those needing to come and go.  Contact Marguerite for questions or concerns.

2. Pick up and drop off of equipment and group members only–will be available within the parking circle. There will be street parking or parking on designated private land—with small donation requested (look for street signs). Temporary parking permits included in this packet will allow quick drop off and pick up. If you violate the temporary parking area with long term parking during faire hours you will be ticketed and your vehicle will be towed at your expense.  (And we hate to have THAT happen!)

3. All over night living history camps must provide own security and you may sleep in your camp during Faire. If you plan to camp, your name must be on the library’s camper roster. See camping information.

4. You must be in costume at all times that the gate is open. Please make this a priority; we are hosting a time period event. (And it makes it so much more fun!)  See our suggestions.

5. Please do your best to speak in medieval style. This is not as important as the costumes but it does add to the atmosphere.  This year, on the Friday evening before the Faire, we will be having a “Speak the Speech” workshop  encourage all that can to attend.  (More info regarding this event will be sent out to all.)     Read about “talking the talk

6. All non-period equipment in your camp or yard must be out of site and hearing of the patrons. Please keep all phones turned off or on vibrate mode.

7. Your camp must be a period tent, wooden booth or awning. You may put up pop-ups with metal legs but please make sure the legs have some kind of fabric sleeves to cover them.

8. All performers and performing groups must have a signed Hold Harmless Agreement on file with us.

9. Performer’s animals are permitted in keeping with the medieval atmosphere of the event. The animals’ owner(s) is (are) responsible for continuous cleaning up after said animals. Animals in the Medieval Menagerie are not to be harmed or mistreated in any way. Animals that are liable to bite or harm other participants must be muzzled. Animals must be on a leash, with an attached person, at all times.   Please have Rabies Vaccination verification for each animal!  Animals may not be left in cars, tied to trees etc. (The general public may not bring animals to the faire.) Walking your pet along the river trail and outer perimeter of the park only is strongly recommended.

10.  A note about imbibing:  Underage drinking will not be permitted! Those of age, please imbibe with moderation and dignity.  Let’s set a good example to others.

10. This year there is a small admission fee. Please send a list of names closely associated with your performance before August 15. This list will be at the admission Gate and you and your group will have admission fees waived. Otherwise you may have to pay the admission fee.

11. Check in for camp set up times are Friday August 20 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday August 21 8:00-9:00am.
We look forward to a wonderful Faire with your participation!

Sincerely,

The Mancos Renaissance Faire Committee
